South Asian Chamber of Commerce
On Tuesday, June 25, 2024, the South Asian Chamber of Commerce (SACC) in collaboration with Open Houston hosted an insightful event at Mezban Restaurant & Caterers focused on the crucial topic of mental health. The dinner and discussion aimed to shed light on the often-overlooked aspect of well-being in both personal and professional spheres, offering valuable insights and strategies for maintaining mental wellness.
The evening featured engaging presentations from three distinguished speakers: Dr. Asim Shah, M.D., Professor & Executive Vice Chair at Baylor College of Medicine; Dr. Fahd Rawra, MD, Director at Alina Telehealth; and Joop Oranje, CEO & Principal Consultant at Soaring + Company. Dr. Shah provided an overview of mental health issues and the importance of awareness, Dr. Rawra discussed strategies for maintaining mental wellness and available support resources, and Mr. Oranje shared practical applications of mental health practices in the workplace.
Attendees, comprising entrepreneurs, professionals, and community members, had the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions, exchange ideas, and connect with like-minded individuals. The interactive format encouraged participation and allowed guests to share their experiences and perspectives on mental health.
