Former Chair of Houston’s South Asian Chamber receives presidential appointment
Houston, Texas – Former Chairman and President of the Houston South Asian Chamber of Commerce Nomaan “Nomi” Husain was appointed to the President’s Commission on White House Fellowships. Members of the Commission are responsible for recommending candidates to the President for selection to the prestigious White House Fellows program, which provides young Americans with experience working with senior White House Staff, Cabinet Secretaries, and other top-ranking government officials.
“These leaders represent the best of America– our collective character, creativity, and diversity. I am grateful these dedicated and accomplished Americans will help select and mentor the next class of White House Fellows who demonstrate exceptional leadership, unwavering passion, and a strong commitment to public service,” said President Biden.
Other members named to the Commission today include former Congressman Joe Kennedy III, Tennessee State Senator Raumesh Akbari, and President and CEO of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Marco A. Davis.
“Nomi has spent his life giving back to the community”, said current SACC president Sohail Hassan. “He is an excellent choice for this Commission and we at the Chamber are incredibly proud of his appointment.”
